How diode laser technology actually works.
A diode laser removes gum tissue with controlled heat. Melanin absorbs the wavelength strongly. Healthy pink tissue absorbs very little, which is what keeps the beam precise on gum. The same tip trims and shapes the gum edge, sealing tissue as it cuts. Dental diode lasers hold US FDA clearance for soft tissue procedures inside the mouth. The laser only treats a small area, so your gums heal close to the tooth. Your dentist marks the new gum line before starting, so every tooth is shaped evenly. The laser seals small blood vessels, so there is very little bleeding. This helps the dentist see your gums clearly during the treatment process.

Scaling comes first, and any active gum infection is treated. A laser cannot cut a clean edge on inflamed tissue.
An X-ray shows the bone level under the gum. That measurement sets how much tissue can be removed.
List your medicines, especially anything for blood pressure, epilepsy or a transplant. Some of them thicken gum tissue.
Photos and a mock-up of the new gum line are taken first, so the shape is agreed before treatment starts.

POST-TREATMENT CARE

Soft, cold food for two days. Curd, ice cream, cooled dal chawal.
Keep the brush off the treated edge for a week. Brush the rest normally and use the prescribed rinse on that strip.
A pale film forms over the gum in the first few days. That is healing tissue, not infection.
Stop the medicated rinse on the date given. Longer use stains the teeth brown.
